Recycled Cassette Tapes Artworks

Once a week we like to feature talented Designers and Artist. Last week we highlighted the Eco Coke Bottle Design, by Graphic Designer Andrew Kim. This week the spotlight is on Erika Iris Simmons, she is a creative painter and sculptor who is driven by an incredible passion for self-expression through art.

Erika doesn't work with traditional media. Her style focuses on found recycled materials such as old cassettes, video tapes, and used books. Most of her materials have been donated at some point. She has a very rare style of art. Erika's portraits will absolutely instill some inspiration into you.

The pieces she has created with cassette tapes and reel tapes is simply extraordinary. With the use of these materials Erika has transformed them into works of art in a series called, "Ghost in the Machine." The series showcases a number of portraits of celebrities and iconic musicians such as Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe, Lauryn Hill, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Paul Griffiths, Lenny Kravitz, Bob Marley and many more.

Erika's art has also been featured on major websites, in newspapers and magazines all over the world. The entire, "Ghost in the Machine" series of cassette tape portraits can be viewed
