Platinum Dunes revives another classic horror franchise with the reboot of a Nightmare on Elm Street. The company exclusively specializes in horror films, mainly remakes. They are responsible for reworking films such as: Friday The 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, and The Hitcher.
In the forthcoming slasher a group of suburban adolescents share one familiar dilemma; they are all being pursued by Freddy Krueger. Freddy Krueger is a hideously disfigured murderer who handles a glove with four blades implanted on the fingers. He persistently stalks the adolescents in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can defend one another. However when they fall asleep there is no escape; it may result in their death in actuality.
Robert Englund has consistently depicted the role of Freddy Krueger throughout the film series in support of all eight remakes. Unfortunately Englund will not be reprising his role in this reboot, Jackie Earle Haley will be taking over for Englund. A Nightmare on Elm Street is set to hit theaters on Friday April 30th, 2010.
